Growing up in an abusive, alcoholic step-father, home, I learned quickly how to be a people pleaser. When I did well in school I would receive lots of “Good Job”, that’s my daughter, from my step-dad. I did many things though-out my life to gain the love of a father. My own biological dad didn’t have much time for me. He had a new wife, and two new daughters to take care of. Thankfully, gratefully, I was introduced ( through wonderful ladies that taught Good News Club in the housing projects where we lived) to a Father that loved me no matter what. I still remember one of the songs they taught us, Love, love L-O-V-E-, love, love, boundless and free, Jesus left heaven to die on a tree, this was love, love, love. At last, love for me! I need to read this book. I am one who always feels unworthy and caught in a trap of never wanting to set my heart or confidence on/in anything for fear of being let down. Our library in Moscow Idaho does not have “A Confident Heart” book. I have filled out the necessary paperwork so they may purchase a copy for our library. However, they have not received it yet. Hopefully I will win one, so I won’t get any further behind in the study.

I at 44 years of age still struggle with “paralyzing” self doubt. I thought that as I aged, it would go away. God always reassures me that I am His child and loved “unconditionally”. Sometimes I have to call upon some mental exercises when it gets really bad.

Allow me to set up why I want to win Renee’s book, so bare with me…

I have been praying for months now that the Lord would provide an opportunity to witness about Jesus to my father — for SO MANY reasons related to his living what most call a miserable existence. And I was pretty convinced that God has been using my time studying the Word via BSF International, friendships through my church, and the Holy Spirit’s counsel to refine, reshape and prepare me just for this conversation. I have felt stronger in the Word, bolder and more confident in its truth, more in-love with and thirstier than I can remember for Christ. Last weekend this conversation took place — and it fell dead in the water in about 1 minute flat. Of course being a Believer I am okay with it because I’m assured that some will be saved and others will perish; I was obedient to my call (that I have ignored for about 15 years!); and that I planted a seed and it’s the work of the Lord to do the rest now. I won’t stop praying for him or reminding him of God’s love.

So back to the book.

My call to witness to my dad took place! My job as a disciple is done! I was obedient! Phew! Now on to the next project in Jesus’ name…right? Of course not! Just last night after meeting with a great group of women friends from church for coffee, I came home to write a check to my 20-year-old babysitter, finish my BSF work for today’s group, then GO TO BED! And the Lord presented an opportunity to witness to MY BABYSITTER! I mean, smacked me in the face with the undeniable call to listen, encourage, offer, and PRAY WITH HER! I DO NOT PRAY IN PUBLIC!! I asked her if she was saved, she seemed unsure, and the conversation continued to reveal the life of a sweet, driven young woman who is uncertain, afraid, in doubt, disappointed, lonely; looking for purpose, for answers, direction; unsure of who she is to herself, to her parents and to her friends. I want to support her gently, lovingly, openly. I FB’d to this special young woman the Proverbs 31 devotional message today by Renee — which I was going to bypass because I am swamped at home right now and “didn’t have time to read today’s message” — WOW! Then I noticed the “win the book” offer and here I sit, 20 minutes later praying for this young woman and jonesin’ to win HER the book filled with a message I am CONFIDENT her HEART needs to hear!

Thank you for the opportunity to share my humble story of God’s grace, countenance and miracles here in Ohio, and for His provision and promise that He has it all in His hands.

This study has been the best book study I have done in a long time! The blessings of God’s promises have helped me tremendously! this is a most awesome book … and while working with some homeless women in our area … my team and I have decided to share this study with them in a marathon fashion … this weekend & st. patty’s day weekend in march … we host 10 -18 women once a month (Friday – overnight & saturday) … we have discovered that most of the homeless women are in the process of changeN their lives cause they have seen a glimpse of the light (Jesus) … the reaction of those around them is what gets them in this homeless situation.

Words can’t express how thankful I am for Renee Swope. Her words written in her book have encouraged me greatly. The words posted Feb. 14th reflected how I have felt this day. I have just undergone the first of three surgeries to help control the increasing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. I have felt God’s love through out the day and the past few days. God has placed many special people in my life and my husband’s life, that it is hard to describe. What a wonderful day to express our thanks to all of you for your loving concern and prayer. It truly reminds me of what John 3:16 is all about.

I struggle with self confidence- in many areas of my life. I was not raised in church. I only went as a child when my grandparents picked us up. Anyway, as a woman of God now and as a wife and mother, there are many times I struggle with my confidence. I would LOVE to read a book that reaches to the core and quiets the tauntings of an enemy who only wants to see me down. My God is bigger than any situation and it is my duty to show that as a blood bought daughter of the Most High!

I am currently doing this study with renee online and have a few friends id love to give this book to…i have really been feeling like the lord is trying to get me to share just what the first 4chapters have done to my self confidence…im so excited to see where i will be at then end or even in a year from now…i am cosmetology school and before the book i literally hid from clients in the back of the salon floor but since ive been really living in the word and putting my trust in him some of my day 2 day life things have changed along with my faith…ive taken clients with no issues (nervous yes but not scared and fearful that im paralyzed like before) I would love to share this book and study with some amazing (but doubtful & fearful) women i know but with my on a student budget i cant go buy the books for all of them…i did get my mom (who just went thru a divorce with an abusive man) onboard and into a group with a lady from church and this book has really opened her eyes and is doing great which brings me such joy knowing that no matter what a woman is going thru or has gone thru this book can relate…i would be so extatic to win this these books it would really go to help some really wonderful women who i cant afford to go buy books for, However if i dont Im sure it will go to some amazing women regardless….because we are all amazing we are all HIS and everyone deserves to feel CONFIDENT IN HIS LOVE! I am excited about reading this book! I absolutely love the way Renee Swope shares directly and honestly. I am a single mom 8 years now, I have all my life longed for a confident-heart, I feel as though this is my year for healing, two things in my life truly set me back my brother Jesse’s devastating and life changing car accident and my divorce after 17 years of a marriage I believe could’ve been restored. My nuclear family was chaotic, dramatic, and emotionally draining. As the baby of this family I became fearful and a full blown co-dependent. My children have now become what I prayed they wouldn’t, Fearful and Sad and lacking in confidence. I want to have a Confident-Heart so that I can show them that with Jesus its possible and even at Forty-something! I feel His prompting all around me (Joshua 1:9) His Love is nudging me to be go and be Confident, Trust Him who is in me.

I would love to read this book too. I have just listened to the video on Renee’s blog about how we fill our lives with other things, yet still feel empty. You would think that, after being a Christian most of my life, being involved in ministry, homeschooling and loving the Lord with all of my heart, that I would know this. But, God obviously still has a lot of work to do in my life. I long to feel valued and delighted in by God. I know that, even if I do never get to read this book, God will teach me the lessons He wants me to learn. I thankyou, Renee, for your reminders to fill ourselves with God and not the many, many things that we think we need for affirmation.

I am a mom who stays at home, we have 5 beautifully different children, all gifted in their own way; I am a wife of a hard working self sacrificing husband who I only get to be with on the weekends; the Confident Heart study is really helping me see just how special and important my vocation is. I think we all have our own “things”, “stuff”, “junk” we have to deal with. I am learning that it doesn’t matter what others think about me, what others think about our special needs daughter, about how we dress, or that we don’t host things at our house because our time together as a family is only on weekends; what does matter is our Heavenly Father, how we please Him and not the world; how we are the only ones who can do what He has called us to do; We are important in His eyes; and that’s all that matters!! We are loved!! A TRUE love. Thank you Jesus for loving us for who we are! Thank you Renee for this online study! Thank you for brig obedient to what the Holy Spirit has urged you to do.

I really am upset i wrote my long comment about renees book and how amazing winning this would be for the girls in my life (were students on a budget) and id love love love to win so i can get them caught up on the wonderful online study and share my story of how it helped me in literally every aspect of my life!
